DESCRIPTION:Private enrollment: US Life Guard Assoc \nLead Instructor: Camille Meyer\, Lead Instructor \nClass size: Limited to 24 \nPreregistration Required: (10% late fee less than 14 days before class) \nCOURSE DESCRIPTION: 27 hour course covering Flood and Swiftwater rescue team ICS\, safety\, PPE\, Haz Mat situations\, site evaluations\, hydrology\, shore and in water rescue concepts and techniques along with tethered boat skills. This course also includes a mandatory night of training. \nCOURSE FORMAT: The FAST 1 course is normally taught in a 2.5 day format. Day 1 morning is lecture\, afternoon is introduction to ropes\, knots\, throw lines\, and shallow water crossing techniques. Day 2 is all day shore and in water skills with hydrology interjected. Day 2 night training begins at dusk and includes skills and techniques in dark conditions. Day 3 completes the course with the more technical systems\, survival skills\, and finish out lectures. Technician will learn individual and team rescue applications such as the window washer pick off\, mid line transfer\, multiple belay lowers\, securing victim into harness\, line transfers\, passing knots on line\, advanced ascending\, night challenge course and more. \nPrerequisite – Current RTI VRT 1. This class is a prerequisite for the VRT  3. \nCourse Format: The VRT 2 course is normally taught in a 2 day format. Day 1  reviews safety and command procedures\, establish rappel stations\, review rappel and lock out sequence\, patient harness\, victim tie into a rescue basket\, multiple rappels with problem solving missions\, tandem medic rappels. Night training is an obstacle course for a team. Day 2 includes window washer pickoff\, mid line transfer advanced ascend to rappel changeover including passing a knot on line\, and patient lowers. \nThe person completing this course will have the knowledge and skills to decide the proper course of action to locate\, access\, stabilize and transport a victim from heights. \nSTANDARDS: This course meets and exceeds Industry standards and NFPA  1006 requirements to the level of this class. To completely meet all NFPA requirements the Technician would need to attend the VRT 3. \nPPE: Each student is required to provide their own Personal Protective Gear: \n\n Rescue Rated Seat Harness\nVertical rated Rescue Helmet with helmet light\nDouble palm padded rappel gloves\nAnkle support hiking or duty boots\nClothing appropriate for weather conditions (NO SHORTS) Shirts and long hair must be able to be tucked in or secured.\n\nRENTAL GEAR: RTI has a limited number of gear sets of Harness and helmet for rent. DESCRIPTION:Open Enrollment \nLead Instructor: TBA\, Lead Instructor \nClass size: Limited to 24 \nPreregistration Required: (10% late fee less than 14 days before class) \nCOURSE DESCRIPTION: 27 hour course covering Flood and Swiftwater rescue team ICS\, safety\, PPE\, Haz Mat situations\, site evaluations\, hydrology\, shore and in water rescue concepts and techniques along with tethered boat skills. This course also includes a mandatory night of training. \nCOURSE FORMAT: The FAST 1 course is normally taught in a 2.5 day format. Day 1 morning is lecture\, afternoon is introduction to ropes\, knots\, throw lines\, and shallow water crossing techniques. Day 2 is all day shore and in water skills with hydrology interjected. Day 2 night training begins at dusk and includes skills and techniques in dark conditions. Day 3 completes the course with the more technical systems\, survival skills\, and finish out lectures. Course hours are generally 0800-1700\, except third day which ends at 1300. \nThe person completing this course will have the knowledge and skills to decide the proper course of action in floods and swiftwater environments. This course is a pre-requisite for FAST 2 and the FAST Rescue Boat Operator courses. \nSTANDARDS: This course meets and exceeds Industry Standards and NFPA 1670 and 1006 requirements. To completely meet all NFPA requirements the Technician would need to attend the FAST R2 class. \nPPE: Each student is required to provide their own Personal Protective Gear: \n\n “USCG” approved Type III or V PFD (Type V preferred)\nWet suit boots with hard sole bottom or tennis shoes\nWater or vertical rescue helmet\nFull wet or dry suit as weather conditions dictate\nWater or abrasion protective gloves\n\nRENTAL GEAR: RTI has a limited number of gear sets of PFD and helmet for rent. DESCRIPTION:Open   Open \nInstructor: Wesley Meyer \nClass size: Limited to 4 per available boat \nPreregistration Required: (10% late fee less than 14 days before class) \nCOURSE DESCRIPTION: 16 hour course covering operations\, safety\, boat construction and orientation\, maintenance and care\, start up procedures\, boat crew assignments\, equipment\, command and control driving skills\, rescue and recovery concepts including along side\, throw lines\, drag lines\, deployed swimmer and advanced tethered swimmer. Boat handling skills to bring the boat and crew within safe approach under stressful situations. \nCOURSE FORMAT: The FRBT 1 course is normally taught in a two day format. 0800-1700. There is no night training in the FRBO 1 course. Day 1 morning lecture and boat orientation\, mechanics and prepping for launch. Day 1 afternoon is in  water driving and intro to skills. Day 2 is all skills day in water. \nThe person completing this course will have the knowledge and skills to operate and command a rescue boat in flood and swiftwater situations.
